Cisco owned WebEx announced the iPhone-optimized version of its remote desktop access service WebEx PCNow. Through a partnership with SoonR, the new service allows iPhone owners to access their desktops for search, Microsoft Outlook contacts, calendar, email and multiple types of documents. In addition — I guess also thanks to the partnership with SoonR — WebEx PCNow users can make and take VoIP calls via Skype. WebEx also finds important to note that their service is the first such solution to support both PC-to-PC and phone-to-PC access.
Anyway, if this sounds compelling to you, you can try the service free for 30 days, after which you’ll need to pay $11.95 per month for two PCs. Native support for Mac OS X desktops is also coming later this year.

We got this little tidbit from our IntoiPhone sister site. It seems that the teenaged hacker behind the hardware unlocking solution for the Apple iPhone couldn’t resist the temptation to trade his unlocked iPhone for a brand new sports car and three locked iPhones.
He’ll be enjoying his new hacker-status and that brand new Nissan 350Z as he goes off to college. We can see it now - “Hey baby, I’m the guy that unlocked the iPhone and got this here 350Z. Wanna watch Galaxy Quest in my dorm room?”
Good luck geohot.

They day we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived! No, we’re not talking about the hardware and software unlock solutions for the iPhone - although those are pretty significant milestones. We’re talking about the day that a natively installed IM chat application becomes available for the iPhone. Apollo IM gets the honor of being the first chat client that brings instant messaging to the iPhone sans the web-app inconvenience.
The Apollo IM application can be natively installed using the uber-easy-to-use Nullriver Installer and is available in a v.-1 pre-beta release. Just hit up the Nullriver iPhone Installer that you have installed on your phone (you do have it installed, right?) and find the Apollo IM application. Install it - nice and easy.
We love the fact that a native chat client has finally hit the iPhone, but we’re not excited about this pre-beta’s buggy performance. What does excite us, however, is the thought of what’s in store for iPhone users. With some more development and a little refinement, the Apollo IM chat client could beat Apple’s Mobile iChat.
Hey Apple, are you really going to let a third-party beat you to the punch? We’re still waiting on an iPhone update that does more than fix bugs, tighten security, and make things a little faster. How about we all just focus on iChat?

As counter-intuitive as it sounds, Nullriver has released their AppTappInstaller to install the iPhone Installer on your iPhone.
Here’s the deal. The Nullriver iPhone Installer is basically a natively installed application on your iPhone that will automatically download and install all the iPhone applications that have been developed thus far.
But, until now, you’d have to install this iPhone Installer through your Mac’s Command Terminal - a scary proposition for some. With the new AppTappInstaller from Nullriver, there is no need to hit up Terminal ever again. A simple double click of the application will automate the process of installing the iPhone Installer onto your iPhone.
So, now there’s no excuse to not have the iPhone Installer setup and ready to go. It’s completely worth the time. Go do it already!

This news comes as no real surprise. AT&T has threatened legal action against software makers that are offering the key to unlock the Apple iPhone.
Several websites, including Engagdet and iPhoneSimFree.com posted their iPhone-freeing news to the world while Uniquephones’ iPhoneunlocking.com announced they were about to reveal their $25-$50 solution to unlocking the iPhone.
The software was said to be available beginning at Midnight on August 25, but the release was delayed by communications from AT&T. The company said that their software was a copyright infringement and illegal software dissemination.
Stay tuned for updates on the release on iPhone unlocking software.

So, it’s not just Facebook who have launched the iPhone-optimized version of its site/service. Now, Multiply — the social network for “real relationships and private sharing” — is joining the iPhone wave.

Unlike other such services which offer stripped down versions of their sites for the Apple’s handset, Multiply is giving FULL access to the iPhone users. This translates into photo and video sharing, blogging, commenting, inviting new users and joining groups — all while on-the-go.
Too bad Multiply isn’t as popular as Facebook or MySpace are, although they’re everything but a small community — in July, they reported 9.4 million unique visitors.

Are you a proud owner of an iPhone? Brando has the iPhone Armband that keeps your spanking new handset in place while you sweat it out at the local gym. The armband has a length of 42cm, so unless you have overdosed on synthol injections, that ought to be long enough to fit just about any arm. The only problem would be the wired headphones - won’t exercising with a wire dangling out be rather distracting to say the least? You can pick up the iPhone Armband for $14 a pop.

We have seen tons and tons of iPhone clones and ripoffs since it has been revealed by Steve in January if this year. This is one of the best ones I have seen from the lot. Firstly it doesn’t look cheap and the screen seems to be of good quality. The front and back looks good…if the front didn’t have those words printed above and below the screen it would have been even better. Here are some specs.
- 3.2 inch QVGA 260K touchscreen
- microSD support
- 2 mega pixel camera
- Nintendo NES and GB emulator
- measures 116.5×64x15 mm
- weighs 126 grams
- 6 speakers (4 front + 2 back)
Check out the clip below of the phone in action.

It’s finally happened. Not even a day after we brought you that hardware unlock solution for the iPhone (from geohot), the intrepid iPhone hackers over at iPhoneSIMfree.com announced their full software unlock solution for the Apple iPhone. Unlike geohot’s hardware unlock, there are no risky circuit solders to deal with - an unlock iPhone is just a few mouse clicks away.
We knew the software solution was on the way, but we had no idea that we’d have an actual, working method so soon. Engadget got their hands on a preview copy of the unlocking software, and they can confirm that the unlock is 100% functional - everything works perfectly, with the exception of AT&T’s proprietary Visual Voicemail feature. The Engadget test-iPhone was freed from AT&T’s evil grasp and signed on to the T-Mobile network.
The iPhoneSIMfree.com software unlock is restore resistant, but we’ll have to wait and see if Apple will be able to update the iPhone in such a way as to render this unlock solution useless.
Stay tuned, we’ll keep updating this space as more information becomes available!
