For the longest time, there were really two best selling Chinese clones that were closest in design and performance to the original iPhone. These were the CECT P168 and the HiPhone i32. Which of these you went with depended upon whether you wanted the shake and tilt feature. If you did, you went with the i32. If you didn’t care about advancing music and media by shaking the phone or taking the video to wide screen by tilting it, you probably went with the best selling CECT P168.
This has recently begun to change with the addition and release of the SciPhone. Also called the “mini HiPhone,” the CECT i68, Java 32, or Y32, this phone offers the best of both worlds. It has the shake and tilt technology and has made some improvements to the CECT P168’s design. Additionally, this one has multi finger touch and is a quad band, which allows many more users on the 850 MHz band access to the phone.
The company has also added an e-book reader and has upgraded the camera with the i68. Additionally, the SciPhone is a bit smaller and sleeker than both of the previous best sellers. It’s also a bit faster.
However, what people really love about the SciPhone is that it has the latest addition of Java, which allows all sorts of third party software possibilities. This makes gamers very happy and also provides many more tools for folks who want productivity features on their phone. PowerPoint, Word, and Excel are included and many other third party downloads are readily available.
Of course, the Java 32 still has the crisp and very popular CECT speakers and sound system. It has all of the standard iPhone clone specs, like: web browsing; emailing, texting, and messaging; dual standby sim slots; web cam and digital camera, full MP3 / MP4;and Bluetooth. I find that the multi finger touch makes it very intuitive, very easy to manipulate and edit photos and images, and very easy to message and text. I also use the e-book reader more than I ever thought I would.
Depending on the memory offered in the phone, the price of the SciPhone ranges from the lower $150s to above just $200. This seems fair considering all of the features you’re getting and the fact that you’ll likely save a lot of money over the life of the phone since it’s unlocked and you can use whichever carrier you wish.
