The third generation CECT models have started to generate a lot of buzz. Folks who are interested in these phones are obviously attracted to iPhone technology and as the iPhone has a 3G model, so too must the clones. But, there are two popular models from which to chose - the i9 3G and the i9B. What are the differences and similarities between them? Which is better? I’ll try to answer these questions in the following article.
Similarities:
Appearance: Both phones have the new rounded shape and the sleeker appearance. The regular 3G version is a bit slimmer at only 11MM in width (as opposed to 12 MM for the B model) but both of these are super slim phones. Also, both have the new shiny, thick housing that comes in white, red, or black.
I have noticed that some of the B models actually have an Apple on the back of the phone. Most regular Gs do not. Basically the only thing on the back is the wording “3G.”
Standard Features (Java, Shake And Tilt, Quad Band, Etc.): Both phones still have all of the features that made the i9 popular. Both phones are dual sim, support Java, and include the shake and tilt and are quad bands. But, both phones have an upgraded 2.0 MP camera as opposed to only 1.3 mega pixels. Both also have upgraded firmware.
And, they both still have the MP3 / MP4 players as well as FM radio, Bluetooth, USB cords, SD cards (both can hold up to 16GB), web cam, voice recording, etc.
Price: Actually, the cost between these two phones is quite similar. You’ll often find either one in the in the low $100 range, depending on the memory or accessories that come with them.
New Icons: Both of these phones have additional icons available. Most of the phones sold under these names have icons for You Tube, weather, maps, stocks, etc. Both phones allow you to manipulate and drag your finger / icon around to place them anywhere on the phone.
Differences:
Video Chat / Live Video: Perhaps the main difference between these two is that the i9B is the only one of the two that has the video chat feature which allows you to keep in touch with, interact with, and communicate with someone via video in real time. Of course, the other person has to have this ability on their own phone, but this feature is a nice one that is found on most 3G phones.
The i9 3G Has More Icons: Above, I mentioned the new icons, but I have to tell you that the G model has more icons available than the B. Whereas the G has over ten pages available, most B’s have five pages. Of course, check the item description or with the seller to be sure, but this is generally what I’m seeing.
But, Which Is Better?: Well, that’s going to depend on your needs and which feature you like the most. Obviously, if you really like or need the video conferencing, then the i9B it is. But, if the 10 pages of icons appeals to you, then the i9 3G is your obvious choice. You’ll get the shiny new casing, new firmware, new camera, and new colors with either.

SciPhone I68 Vs the iPhone - Which is Better? How Do They Compare?
There’s no doubt that in today’s economy, people are intrigued with the iPhone clones. It’s awful tempting to get off a bit cheaper and to free yourself from that…

There’s no doubt that in today’s economy, people are intrigued with the iPhone clones. It’s awful tempting to get off a bit cheaper and to free yourself from that expensive, monthly contract. But, do these clones really stack up favorably to the real thing? Are they good enough and are of decent enough quality that you’ll be happy with them? Do they really have all the same features? I’ll try to answer these questions, with regard to the SciPhone i68, in the following article.
Basic Similarities Between The Two: First off, I’ll compare the basic features of the two. Side by side, these phones look quite similar. In fact, the SciPhone has a new 3G model that gives the rounded edges of the 3G Apple. There’s also upgraded firmware, but the clone has always had the flow touch interface of the original. Both phones include almost every feature that you can imagine, including the ability to quickly and easily get online (as well as to scroll around easily with your fingers, seeing everything on an over sized touch screen.) Both have MP3 / MP4 players. Both can transfer data via Bluetooth, memory card, or USB card. Both have digital cameras / web cams. They are both quad band, GSM phones.
Some Key Differences: Folks who like the clones believe that there are a few places where the clones win out. Besides the obvious price difference, the SciPhone saves you money by being dual sim. You don’t have to carry around two phones or pay for two numbers. And, you can use prepaid cards with the clones without any problem. Also, the knock off includes an FM radio and the shake and tilt (shake to the music) feature. Also, you can remove the battery on the replica yourself without needing to take it to the dealer.
Accessories / Support: Some people worry about the clones because they wonder about what’s going to happen when they want to buy a skin, replacement battery, user’s manual, etc. for the clone. Or, what happens if they need to get set up instructions and trouble shooting? The truth is, these little copy cats have become very main stream. You can easily get anything that you may need (often cheaper too) and there are entire forums dedicated to making this thing run splendidly.
AT&T: Some AT&T users sometimes email me and wonder if they have to give up their AT&T number or account if they want to switch over to say, the SciPhone i68. No, you don’t. Since the i68 is a GSM phone just like the original, it uses carriers like T Mobile, AT&T, Cingular, and Rogers also. In fact, you can just switch sim cards and this should work just fine. All of your numbers, contacts, addresses, etc. will be stored in the card so the transition should not be too hard. And, you can transfer your number to a GoPhone if you want to go prepaid.
The iPhone Lifestyle: People will often ask me if the two experiences are comparable because Apple definitely has cult following and almost a life style associated with the brand. There’s no denying that you aren’t going to get the exact same experience with the knock off. A clone is not the original, no matter how you slice it. There are two manufacturers involved and if you’re dying for an Apple, you likely aren’t going to be really happy until you get exactly what you want. But, if you’re looking for a comparable phone that has most of the features, is a dead ringer, and is much more inexpensive to buy and own, the SciPhone will likely work quite well for that. And, I often tell people that a clone is a cheap way to see if you’ll actually like a touch phone.
